Highways Excavation and Volumetric Surveys

Utilizing our survey software, Severn Partnership can offer solutions to compute volumes for excavation in highways related projects. Our ability to construct accurate Digital Terrain Models provides the basis for precise area and volumetric analysis often with quantity surveying implications.

Recently we offered our assistance to the A595 Parton to Lillyhall highways extension, providing volumetric analysis for the earthworks element of the project. Cut/fill balances were calculated to supply excavation shortfalls to the highways design engineer to plan the next stage of the project.

Summary of deliverables:
  • Digital Terrain Models (DTM)
  • Contour plans
  • Isopachyte contours
  • Defined Areas
  • Volumes:
  o Cut & Fill
o Between surfaces
o From a datum level
o From a datum plane
o From an inclined plane
